Chequey ("we", "our", "us") operates the Chequey mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you choose, your name. You may also sign in using Apple or Google, in which case we receive your email and basic profile information from those services.

Financial Data: If you link bank accounts through our integration with Plaid, Inc., we receive account balances, transaction history, and investment holdings from your financial institutions. Plaid's use of your data is governed by Plaid's Privacy Policy.

Manual Entries: You may manually enter accounts, transactions, property valuations, and other financial data. This information is stored in your account.

Subscription Data: If you subscribe to Chequey Pro, Apple processes your payment. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not collect credit card or payment details.

Device Information: We collect basic device information (device type, operating system version) for app compatibility and crash reporting.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the app's core functionality: net worth tracking, expense categorization, investment analysis, scenario planning, property tracking, and household sharing.
To authenticate your identity and secure your account.
To process and manage your subscription.
To improve app performance and fix bugs.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or financial data with third-party advertisers or data brokers.

3. Data Sharing

We share your data only in the following circumstances:

Plaid: To link and sync your financial accounts. Plaid acts as an intermediary between Chequey and your financial institutions.
Household Members: If you create or join a household, members you invite can view shared financial data within that household.
Service Providers: We use Google Cloud to host our backend infrastructure. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

4. Data Security

We protect your data using industry-standard measures:

All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption.
Data at rest is encrypted in our database.
Authentication tokens are securely stored on your device.
We support Face ID and Touch ID for additional app-level security.
We do not store your bank credentials — Plaid handles all financial institution authentication.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal and financial data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Your Rights

You may:

Access, update, or correct your account information at any time through the app.
Disconnect linked bank accounts at any time.
Request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us.
Opt out of any optional analytics or communications.

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what data we collect and the right to request deletion.

7. Children's Privacy

Chequey is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will promptly delete it.

8. Third-Party Services

Our app integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

Plaid, Inc. — Bank account linking and data aggregation.
Apple (StoreKit) — In-app purchases and subscription management.
Google Cloud Platform — Backend hosting and data storage.
Sign in with Apple / Google Sign-In — Authentication.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the app or on our website. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
